Stud season "Genuwinely" underway

The first Genuwine-sired foal for this season at St Fort has arrived safely.

The sprightly and handsome colt, out of "Its Witchcraft" (Safely Kept USA-Sportscraft NZ) was born on Monday.

"He is a bit of an eye-catcher with a white star on his forehead, but he is also a well put-together horse," Tony said.

Its Witchcraft was a consistent racehorse, facing the starter on only 21 occasions for two wins and seven placings.

St Fort will soon be a hive of activity, with 50 broodmares due to foal in coming weeks.

Tony has high hopes for the progeny of Genuwine.

"He is by Cam's Card Shark, and that line is starting to make more and more breeders take notice," Tony said.

"Genuwine himself was no slouch on the racetrack, winning his first eight starts in the USA in 2007-08," he said.

"He then came out to Australia in early 2009 and won at Newcastle at his second start."

Genuwine had further wins at Newcastle again, Gold Coast, Albion Park and two at Menangle.  He retired with 15 wins and 19 placings from 73 starts for $327,000 in stakes.
